Privacy policy

Short version: your home stays between your iPad and your Home Assistant. We keep only what we need to sell you Rehome, check your key, and support you.

What stays at home

  • Your lights, rooms, cameras, calendars, photos, weather and everything else Rehome shows. Rehome reads them from your own Home Assistant, and they never pass through us.
  • Your settings and layouts, saved on each iPad.
  • Your Home Assistant sign-in, kept on the iPad or inside Home Assistant, never sent to us.

What we collect

  • Waitlist: your email address, the answers you pick on the sign-up form (which device you have, which kind of Home Assistant, and whether you want the stand), and your consent to hear from us.
  • Orders: your name, email, address and what you bought. Shopify runs the store and checkout for us.
  • Payments: handled by Shopify's checkout. We never see your full card number.
  • Your license key: when you buy Rehome, our key server stores your email, your order number, your key (as a code we can check, plus an encrypted copy so we can show it to you again), a scrambled copy of your order's private code (so the button in your order email can open your key without you typing anything), a random ID for each Home Assistant you use it on, and the dates each one first and last checked in.
  • Abuse protection: the key page counts tries per visitor for one hour, using a scrambled form of the visitor's IP address. That count is deleted after the hour.

We don't ask for your Apple ID or Apple password, and never will. We don't sell your information.

Who Rehome talks to

  • Your Home Assistant, at your home. This is where everything Rehome shows comes from. Rehome runs on your own machine: as a Home Assistant add-on, or as its own container next to Home Assistant.
  • Our key server (key.userehome.com), once when you add your key and then about once a week. It receives your key and the random install ID. Nothing about your home.
  • AI answers, only if you turn them on yourself: if you add your own Claude or ChatGPT key in the Rehome add-on, your question and the names of the devices it needs are sent from your Home Assistant to that company (Anthropic or OpenAI) under their privacy terms. Without that, Rehome uses Home Assistant's own Assist, which you control.

The microphone

Rehome uses the microphone only after you hold to talk and allow it in Safari. Audio goes to your Home Assistant's Assist.

Children

Rehome isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Your choices

Unsubscribe with the link in any email. To see or delete what we hold about you, including your key records, write to support@userehome.com. Deleting your key records turns the key off.
